Hi,
Can you provide the exact model or product number of the notebook
HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Product Name or Number? | HP® Customer Support
Can you also perform diagnostics at boot to see if there are any hardware problems
Turn off the PC by holding the power button
Turn on the PC and repeatedly keep hitting the ESC key until startup menu appears
Press F2 to enter diagnostics
Perform the system test or at least the Hard Drive test
Let me know,
David

Thank you for replying, David. The model number is m6-aq003dx. When I did the hard drive extensive check, it said there was no hard drive installed. “No hard drive installed. Please check that the power and data cables are connected properly.”

Hi,
This usually indicates that the Hard Drive has failed and needs to be replaced.
In any case you should replace the Hard Drive with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD as it will give a great boost to the everyday performance of the PC.
Example
On page 30 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the drive
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05098448.pdf
You can create a USB drive on another PC with Windows 10 on it and then use this USB Drive to install the OS on the SSD, After installation go into settings and completly update the PC as it will find the necessary drivers
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
It will feel like a new PC.
Hope it helps,
David

Try this first!
Power on your laptop and press F10 or del keys for going into de Bios setup
When you are in the Setup bios menu look up for "legacy compatibility" or "MBR" option and select "enabled"
save changes pressing F10
restart and ... ¿did you get it?
