Pavilion 15 252 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Yesterday I recharged the battery. After I was unable to power up using the power button.

I found that connecting the AC adaptor the power button operates as normal.

If I unplug the adaptor, the notebook shuts down immediately.

If the Ac adaptor is connected the icon indicates power % availble (plugged in, not charging)

I have checked the battery condition which inducates OK

I have updated the BIOS drivers via the HP site also disconnecting and reinstalling the battery after five minute separation.

The AC adaptor when plugged in is cool to the touch, in the past it has been noted to be quite warm? but I assume it is still recharging the battery.

The warranty expired 17.04.2017 on my Notebook.

Anyone else suffering similar issues and is this problem a hardware failure and the device requires repairs?

Kind regards

Doubtful there is any problem with the AC adapter. Please accept as solution if this was the answer you needed.

Did you run a diagnostic on the battery? Tap esc as you power up then F2 to enter diagnostics, then component tests and battery test. Most likely answer is battery needs replaced.

Thank you for your reply.

I did run a test but not using start up and the F2 method! The test i used indicated battery OK?

Now run the F2 as you suggest and result with a different result:

Log details: Battery Check: Primary-Replace (42)

Failed ID: 9LG2KF-71V92W-MFPV6J-C0ER03

Product ID: F9G53EA#ABU

So! the battery requires replacing? not to bad after four years.

The battery charger is also suspect as the battery power is reducing it indicates (plugged in, not charging)

I will order a replacement battery first, install it and then see if the AC adaptor charges.

Thank you once again for your help

Kind regards
