Hello all.

So two days ago I noticed my laptop wouldn't turn on (no LED battery light) without the charging cable connected. The laptop turns off completely when disconnected. The battery doesn't charge at all and does not appear (comes up as not detected) when I run any analysis.

So I searched the forums and tried the following -

  • Removing the battery drivers and reinstalling (without the battery connected)
  • Performed a hard reset
  • Updated the BIOS

I'm getting a flashing red LED charging light (on the side of the laptop) and this is the error code I'm getting: QAP17K-6SP8PX-MFPWXA-C0A603.

I'm not sure what to do now, any ideas would be very welcome!

Thanking you in advance.

Greetings @willjones1995

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that your computer shuts down when you disconnect the power cord, is that right?

Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

I checked the failure code shared by you and the code confirms that the battery needs to be replaced.

Request you contact our phone support to check on the service options available for the battery.

Let me know if this helped.
