My laptop shuts randomly down under high load giving a CM0S 502 error.
My first guess was a thermal issue, so I've monitored it with psensor on linux but the peek was 69°C while on average of 65°C (during benchmarking). All values where around 60-65°C and I think that might be ok!
I've opened the laptop and checked the fans, both are ok.
My next guess was that it might be a power problem. So I've switched to intel only rendering and run the benchmark again - same result. Shutting down, CMOS 502.
Next thing was to operate only on the battery. And again. Same result.
I've checked the linux system logs but found nothing awkward also installed the hp support assistant tool for windows and done some "checks".
I've updated the bios, updated all drivers (windows and linux).
I have no clue what else to do. This is really annoying as it seems like the laptop is made for low-fi applications only...

I understand that you are getting CMOS to reset the 502 messages.
As you have stated that you have already updated the BIOS. The issue is not resolved.
I would suggest you contact phone support.
