I have a Pavilion Laptop that the warranty expired on October 22, 2021. Around the middle of November I started having fan noise and got an error telling me the fan was faulty and the laptop shut down and now it will not power on. The power button LED does not light nor does the LED for the AC adapter plug. There was no dust in the cooling ports and the laptop only sat on a hard surface, no towels or anything to block the ports. After trying all the resets and troubleshooting, I am hearing it is a motherboard. I can't believe HP would not honor the warranty being it seems to be catastrophic for the laptop and only 2 weeks out of warranty. If you know of any more troubleshooting or if HP could assist me, that would be great... Thank you!

Look up my recent (long) post. I had major issues powering up my Elitebook 840 G5.
I thought it was the battery, the A/C adapter, the motherboard, BIOS, etc.
Try disconnecting the CMOS and main battery, of course without the A/C connected, hold the power down for 1 minute.
Leave the batteries disconnected, but connect the A/C, that always worked for me.
Later in the long thread, my issues was the hibernation file (I disabled it) and I have to do a full shutdown via a DOS command, but it seems to work for me.
Another idea is prepare a bootable USB key with Windows or Linux on it, test it on another PC to make sure it works, then remove the existing drive and boot from the USB key.
Hope this helps.
