Hey all,

I purchased a laptop about two years ago from Costco because I needed something mobile and not too expensive. Yesterday, I was shopping online, and then I hear a click. My laptop screen shuts off, and there are no signs of life, from the power button to the charging indicator, and finally the hard drive light.

My friend has a very similar HP laptop, and her charger had the same specifications. I plugged it in, but nothing happened. You can hear a faint clicking from the laptop, and it's the same noise from the charging brick.

I didn't exactly want to open up the laptop because I know the screws are hidden under the rubber feet, but my warranty expired last year, so I don't know if it matters now.

It really sucks because I was using it under the right precautions (the charger was in a surge protector, not that it matters; the air vents had more than ample airflow, the computer wasn't even hot), and yet it still decided to die.

Is there any way of getting a cost-free replacement? If not, what should be my next steps? COVID really blew my wallet, and I don't necessarily have the funds to replace it.

Thanks in advance.       🙂
