Hi I have a Pavili on G6 2000 series running Win8. It freezes immediately at the HP Logo screen. I have tried a hard reset and it still freezes immediately on HP logo "Preparing Repairs" screen. If I run the extensive diagnostics tests on the hard drive, processor, memory, etc. everything passes. It won't let me boot in Safe mode. When. I hit f11 for system recovery it again freezes immediately on HP logo "please wait" screen. I tried updating Bios, same, tried rolling back Bios, same, tried resetting system defaults in Bios, same. Also, it was majorly overheating, but I replaced the thermal paste on the heat sink and it's running at normal temps now. It was having the boot issue before I replaced the thermal paste, so it's not that I connected something incorrectly or something. I thought at first that maybe the high temperatures might have damaged the hard drive or something, but since everything is passing diagnostics I'm leaning more towards it being a software issue not a problem with the hardware. Like perhaps the boot files got corrupted or erased or something somehow?  Do I need to reinstall Windows via USB at this point, or is there something I haven't tried yet that will  maybe get me into safe mode or even recovery to do a factory reset?
