Hi All,
I'm trying to install Windows 10 from USB on to a new SSD on a Pavilion G6-2143SA. My issue is that despite various setting changes I cannot get the laptop to boot using UEFI from either the USB or SSD. When I try I get the following message -
"Boot Device Not Found" & Hard Disk (3F0)
The laptop model number is B9Q47EA#ABU with BIOS F.27
I have tried creating a USB with Windows Media Creation Tool and Rufus but the results are the same. The USB works correctly on other devices.
I would prefer not to install using MBR but will have to if I cannot get GPT to work.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I question "I have tried creating a USB with Windows Media Creation Tool and Rufus" There is no need for Rufus when creating the USB version of the Media Creation Tool. Let the tool create the USB. That might be the problem.
The "The USB works correctly on other devices." might be valid if you are booting to the USB but not starting with Windows already loaded.
If you start this laptop by this method, you can tell if it will boot to the USB.
Start tapping Esc key and then press the start button.
Continue tapping Esc until the popup menu appears.
Pick F9 from the menu choices
in the next screen DO NOT pick OS boot manager, the USB will show in this menu if it is bootable

Hi Dean,
Apologies, I didn't explain too well in my initial post.
My ultimate aim is to get the hard disk formatted GPT rather than MBR and boot accordingly.
The laptop boots from USB as long as "Legacy Support" is enabled in BIOS. When I change this to disabled the laptop won't boot from USB and reports the hard disk error originally mentioned. Note: When "Legacy Support" is disabled in BIOS, the F9 boot screen shows no entries
My question is how can I get the laptop to boot in GPT mode from USB to allow me to install windows with GPT partitions?

If you use the method I described in my previous post and the USB from MS is created correctly, it will show in the F9 menu as a bootable source. I know because I tried it with my HP laptop using the method I layed out with a Windows 10 tool created USB. Legacy does not need to be enabled. I think the problem is the way the previously created USB. Do it again with just what MS does on the Windows 10 site says. Forget about Rufus, as that will make it into a MBR

Just to confirm the steps I have just retried, all steps I have previously tried.
1. Create Windows 10 USB using Windows Media Creation tool.
2. With "Legacy Support" enabled in BIOS, boot laptop with USB (press Esc, F9, then selecting USB) - laptop boots to Windows 10 Setup.
3. Exit Windows setup, laptop restarts
4. Enter BIOS to set "Legacy Support" to disabled - save settings
5. Restart laptop - reports "Boot Device Not Found"
6. Press F9, Boot Option Menu is blank
7. Set "Legacy Support" back to enabled, restart, laptop boots to Windows 10 Setup
FYI - On the latest version, Rufus can be set to GPT for UEFI (non-CSM) boot
