HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eh0000 (9WD45AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Pavilion laptop suddenly could not be started on afternoon. The power button LED lights up and there is a sound from the fan but the screen is black. It had gone asleep while the battery charge was low.  I connected it to power and waited for it to get charged, but it refuses to wake up. I tried Windows+B, and esc buttons while pushing power button, but nothing helps. It just has power LED lighting and the screen is black. If I from that state, turn it off with the power button and then continue pushing the power button, the LED turns off for 15 seconds but then it lights up again for 2 seconds, and keeps cycling that way.

I also let the laptop be without external power over night, so it was totally turned off. Then I tried these procedures again, but it is same behavior. The battery is worn out and gets uncharged rather quickly.

Furthermore, I tried to connect the laptop to external screen while the LED is on, but there is no activity on the screen, it is black.

I do not know if there has been SW update, they happen automatically.
It has acted like this before but it always recovered after a while.

Is there anyone who knows what this is and if it can be fixed?

@IlonaSSAutio, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Power Drain

Unplug the charger.

Hold the power button for 30-60 seconds.

Now, plug in the charger without pressing any buttons.

Wait 10 seconds.

Press power again briefly and see if it boots.

Try BIOS Recovery Again

BIOS recovery on HP requires:

Laptop OFF

Hold Windows + B.

While holding those, press and hold Power for 3 seconds.

Release Power but keep holding Windows + B for about 10 seconds.

If BIOS recovery is triggered, screen should flash and fans might rev up.

️If this works, you’ll see the BIOS recovery screen. If nothing happens, continue below.

External Display Test

Connect HDMI or USB-C external monitor (you’ve done this).

Press WIN+P (screen switching toggle) after boot.

Give it a minute to initialize after powering on.

Let me know how it goes.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
