Pavilion dv6-6b47dx
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hello Community,

I have a Pavilion dv6-6b47dx laptop, which has a somewhat faulty north bridge. Now my question is; why does not my HDD light work? I have an HDD in the machine, but I have tried several kinds of SSDs and HDDs.

I'm assuming it has to do something with North Bridge, since it handles nearly everything in the machine. Does someone have the same problem? If yes, could you fix it softwarewise?

@mategera

In terms of software fix, basically, no.

The HDD activity monitoring is a hardware function and if the sensor has failed, or something internal to the chip code, only replacing the system board will reset that -- and that is likely to cost more than replacing the laptop.
