Pavillion 11 x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My son dropped his laptop at uni the other day and upon switching on, it halted while booting saying no hard disk present. Opened up the case and the connector to HD had worked loose. This was corrected but the laptop will not boot up now. Power chord is ok, battery is ok, tried hard power reset with battery disconnected but this does not solve the issue.

When the power button is pressed the white light lights up for a few seconds and then alternates off and on slowly but laptop does not boot.

Hard Disk and battery were removed and put back in place as part of the initial problem and when trying to reolve the current boot issue.

Any ideas for further things to try? Thanks.

Hi

Whatever it is try and run an F2 diagnostic.

It is possible for the memory or some other piece of hardware to be mis-aligned.

You have tried the hard reset, how about this...

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833

Turn off the notebook.
Plug the notebook into a power source using the power adapter.
With the notebook off, press and hold the Windows logo key and the B key at the same time (WinKey +B).

NB: On some notebook models, it might be necessary to press and hold the Windows logo key and the V key (WinKey +V).

While pressing those keys, press and hold the Power button on the computer for 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows logo key and the B or V key until the HP BIOS update screen displays or you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps).

Hi, thanks for your reply. I had already checked the seating of the memory, tried the Windows + B start up routine and the start up with F2 but but same symptom (flashing white light). Just tried Windows + V but still no joy unfortunately. There is nothing displayed at all on LCD or external monitor if attached so don't get to the BIOS diagnostics.
