Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This is a relative's laptop that's probably about 3 years old  Was working fine but battery wouldn't charge. Bought a new battery which showed it was charging, but then when unplugged from charger, it wouldn't turn back on. The little light by the power port is on so I think that's a sign the adapter is ok, but not sure. I've tried all the power/bios reset tips and they haven't resolved the issue.

Hi@webbrewers,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing charging issues with the HP Pavilion Laptop not turning on when disconnect the charger.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • For Testing and Calibrating the Battery please click this link

If the issue still persist then it could be a hardware issue on the Laptop PC.

For any hardware issue or repair please click on the link Phone Assist Worldwide

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
