After installing a new battery My computer won't reboot. Charging cable still works and charging light still works. Power button lights up for a few seconds and then shuts off. How do I hard restart my hp pavilion x360 laptop?

I tried already the 20 second pushing the power botton. Doesn't work.

The OS is win 11 pro but the issue is hardware.

Please help.

Hi @Cux,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Pavilion x360 isn’t powering on after a battery replacement, even though the charging light and cable seem to work. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Perform a full power drain

Disconnect the AC adapter and remove any connected peripherals (USB drives, external monitors, etc.).

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge residual electrical power.

Reconnect only the power adapter (leave the battery installed) and try turning the laptop on.

Check battery connection

If comfortable opening the laptop again, make sure the new battery’s connector is firmly seated into the motherboard socket.

Even a slightly loose connection can prevent startup.

Try with AC power only

Disconnect the internal battery (if possible) and plug in the AC adapter alone.

Press the power button. If the laptop starts, the issue may be with the new battery or its connection.

Inspect charging indicator behavior

The charging light should glow steady when charging and blink if there’s a power or battery fault.

Note any blinking patterns — they can help identify a hardware issue.

Reset RTC (Real-Time Clock)

Disconnect both the AC adapter and internal battery.

Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to reset the embedded controller.

Reconnect the AC adapter (keep the battery disconnected) and try powering it on again.

Reseat RAM modules

If the power light turns on briefly and goes off, try removing and reinserting the RAM.

Unseated or oxidized RAM contacts can cause power failures after disassembly.

I hope this helps.
