My laptop randomly shut off today and the power button is constantly flashing, and the screen and laptop will not power on. I cannot do as power reset as holding down the power button for even 2 minutes does not force shutdown the computer and the power button continues to blink.

@HB00122, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Unplug Everything

Disconnect charger, USB devices, SD cards, and any external accessories.

Try Power with Lid Closed Then Open

Close the laptop lid fully.

Wait 15 seconds.

Open the lid again and press the power button briefly.

Sometimes, lid sensors or power management glitches can cause it to remain in a suspended state.

Check for LED Blink Codes

If the power button is blinking in a pattern (like 3 long, 2 short blinks), take note.

HP uses these patterns to indicate hardware failure (RAM, motherboard, etc.).

Let me know the blink pattern if you see a repeating sequence.

Try a BIOS Recovery (if screen briefly comes on)

If you see even the faintest backlight or HP logo flicker:

Press and hold Win + B, then press and hold Power for 2–3 seconds.

Release Power, keep holding Win + B until you hear a beep or see the BIOS recovery screen.
