I never use Power-On Authentication or BIOS password. I always use HP software by default.
But after the last restart of the laptop, the Power-On Authentication screen suddenly appeared with a password for a "new user".
However, I didn't set the password and now I can't invoke the BIOS or start Windows.
I took the laptop to a local service center and received a response from HP Service:
"The only solution is to replace the motherboard, but the product warranty does not cover this service."
So, my question to HP:
- My laptop is under warranty until 2022-04-27 and has problem with HP software, so why should I pay to fix your issue?

While I can appreciate your frustration,. we here are not permitted to interfere in warranty or repair issues in any way.
The power-on password is burned into a chip on the motherboard and since those chips are not socketed, HP does not replace them. What the Service Center told you is correct.
You have to take that up with HP directly and since you already did that, there is nothing we can do for you from here.
I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor represent, HP
