I was using the laptop and the screen turned black. I plugged it in and now the power button flashes from orange to white and the laptop won't turn on.

The power LED flashes are not consistent as some orange flashes means the battery is charging and does not have enough charge yet, so waiting is the only solution.  Other orange flashes means the charger and/or the internal charging circuit are bad and while replacing the charger MIGHT solve the issue, it also might NOT.
