@Siku1, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It seems like your laptop is stuck after a BIOS update and OS boot mode change. This is a serious issue that can prevent your laptop from booting correctly. Let's go through a set of troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue.
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Shut down the laptop completely.
- Disconnect the power cable and remove the battery (if it's removable).
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the power cable and try turning on the laptop again.
Check the BIOS Recovery Mode:
- Since you mentioned the BIOS update, it's possible your laptop is in a corrupted state. HP laptops have a built-in BIOS recovery mode that can help restore the BIOS to a functional state.
- To enter HP BIOS Recovery:
- Power off the laptop completely.
- Press and hold the Windows key and the B key simultaneously.
- While holding both keys, press the Power button for 1-3 seconds, then release the Power button but keep the Windows + B keys pressed.
- After a few moments, your laptop should attempt a BIOS recovery. If it starts the recovery process, follow the on-screen instructions.
Check for BIOS Recovery Files on USB:
- If BIOS recovery doesn't automatically trigger, you can try using a USB drive with the BIOS file:
- Go to another computer and download the BIOS update from HP’s official website for your laptop model.
- Format a USB flash drive to FAT32 and copy the BIOS file to it (usually ends with .exe or .bin).
- Insert the USB drive into your laptop and repeat the process of pressing Windows + B and the Power button to start recovery from the USB.

Try the Automatic Repair Process:
- If the system is not loading to the desktop or showing anything, try booting into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE):
- Turn on the laptop and immediately press the F11 key multiple times until the Choose an option screen appears.
- Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
- Follow the instructions to attempt an automatic repair of Windows.
Perform a System Restore:
- If you are able to access the recovery environment (WinRE), you can try a system restore:
- In the Advanced options menu, select System Restore.
- Follow the prompts to restore your system to a previous restore point before the BIOS and OS changes.
Check for External Devices:
- Disconnect any external devices such as USB drives, external hard drives, or peripherals. These might be interfering with the boot process.
- Try booting the laptop with only the power supply plugged in.
Reset BIOS Settings:
- Sometimes, a BIOS reset can help. If the recovery process does not work, you can reset the BIOS by clearing the CMOS.
- Shut down the laptop and unplug it from the power source.
- If you can access the internal components, look for a CMOS reset jumper on the motherboard (it could also be a button or pins).
- Alternatively, removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes and reinserting it might reset the BIOS settings.
- This may also reset any changes made to the boot order or other settings that could be causing boot issues.
Reinstall Windows:
- If nothing works, you might need to reinstall Windows. You can create a bootable USB with Windows installation media using the Windows Media Creation Tool from another computer.
- Plug the bootable USB into your laptop, and turn it on while pressing the Esc or F9 key (to enter the boot menu).
- Select the USB drive as the boot device and follow the steps to reinstall Windows.
Let me know how it goes or if you need more specific details on any step!
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
