Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an issue with booting my laptop up. It started after I've reinstalled Windows, prior to it I changed primary boot devise to USB Flash, because Bootloader won't pick up a flash drive. I changed it back as it was before - the issue is still here.

If I try to turn it off - it logs out and then a moment later it boots on.

If I try to put it into a sleep - it goes to sleep for a couple of seconds and then it turns on again.

If I try to reboot it - it logs out, turns off screen, then turns the screen on, but it's black and unresponsive. it can stand like that for hours.

The only option to turn laptop off - hold the power button until it turns off.

I turned off quick boot (it was a first option from any Windows support community), contacted Microsoft support but no use - the issue still here. I got info that it might be related with voltage issues. So I replaced my battery (it was in really bad shape, all puffed up). Nothing. I updated all drivers from official resource, even updated BIOS - nothing.

Please help me turn off my laptop in a normal way.

Hi @Nimrod1996,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you have an OMEN 15 laptop and the power issue on it. I'll be glad to assist you with this case.

I recommend you perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Remove the battery. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
  • Power ON the laptop.

Let us uninstall the battery drivers and then reinstall them. The following steps will help:

  • Open the device manager.
  • Expand "Batteries".
Right-click on the ACPI battery drivers and select uninstall.
  • Close the device manager after you have uninstalled all the ACPI battery entries.
  • Please restart the laptop. While restarting, the Windows operating system will reinstall the battery drivers automatically.

If the battery continues to stop charging at 99% then let us calibrate the battery: Please follow the steps mentioned under "Manually Calibrating the battery" from this HP article

Finally, please update the BIOS if the above steps did not fix the issue. The BIOS can be downloaded and installed via this link. The Charger must be connected during the BIOS update.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Please feel free to keep me posted. All the best!
