So backstory.. I used my computer ProBook 450 G6 the day before yesterday, and upon completion of my work, I shutdown the laptop.. there was a Windows update that had to run, so I let it.. as I always learned I should... the day after I needed to use my computer again, and suddenly there wad a password on my computer, to let me into windows.. I started asking around if anyone had used it, but no, and since it's securely tucked away I doubt anyone did..
I never set a password, but even so, I naturally tried all my different combinations of passwords, no luck though
The only solution was to boot up into secure/recovery mode to make a complete new installation. (I tried resetting 'net user' passwords, with no luck)
Reinstall went completely by the book, until it came to the first boot-up into windows, then suddenly, after a few seconds I arrive at the HP Power-on authentication menu, where I was prompted to try the fingerprint scanner (didn't work) and then I should try with a password (which I never defined, as the Power-on authentication wasn't a function I used)
Nothing works and it seems like the computer is completely bricked by what I can only describe as a really weird set of happenings of which I had nothing to do with...
The computer worked PERFECTLY, 1 day before, and yes, I did try to roll back the updates before reinstalling windows..
It's ridiculous that a computer I paid so much money for, gets bricked for whatever reason, just because windows decides to do an update, rendering my perfectly fine computer totally useless 😪
My computer is not within warranty, but even so, I can't see why WE are supposed to pay for repairing something of which we could not prevent!!
Please help, and I know HP Support can't/won't Bypass this system, nor replace the BIOS chip, but I expect that they would partially cover ANY cost of repairing this laptop, seeing that this clearly is a systemic error and a general flaw in the product!
If anyone else have had this issue, please do let yourself be known here so HP can see how much a problem this system is!
Best regards, the angry Dane!
