I have a Victus Gaming laptop, the power-on button is lit but there is no boot process and the screen remains black: any suggestions for resolving these issues will be greatly received. Regards MickyD2

Hi @MickyD2

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your Victus Gaming laptop powers on but does not boot and the screen remains black, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop completely and unplug any peripherals. Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to drain residual power.
  • Reconnect the power adapter without any peripherals and try powering on the laptop.

Check the Display:

  • Try connecting your laptop to an external monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort to see if the display issues are related to the laptop's screen.
  • If the external monitor displays the boot process, there might be an issue with your laptop screen or its connection.

RAM Check:

  • If comfortable doing so, power off the laptop, open the back cover, and reseat the RAM modules. Ensure they are properly seated in their slots.

Battery Reset:

  • If the laptop has a removable battery, take it out and reinstall it after a few minutes.
  • If the battery is internal, proceed with the regular troubleshooting steps.

Reset BIOS:

  • Turn off the laptop and unplug it. Press and hold F2 or Esc (depending on your model) and power on the laptop to see if you can access the BIOS settings.
  • In BIOS, reset to default settings and save changes, then exit BIOS to see if it resolves the issue.

Check for Beep Codes:

  • Listen for any beep codes when powering the laptop on, as these can indicate hardware issues.

Let me know if any lights blink, fans spin, or if you hear startup sounds—those clues can help narrow it down. We’ll get your laptop back in action.
