Hi. I use an external monitor connected to my laptop. The laptop lid is closed and everything works fine. When, after idling or manually, the laptop goes to sleep, it can be woken up simply by moving the mouse. And that's fine too. But after some time in sleep mode, the only way to turn the laptop on is to open the lid and press the power button. Is there any way to set this up so that I don't have to open the lid every time to turn the laptop on?

Thank you for your reply!
I have to correct you: the laptop can be awakened from sleep mode not only by pressing the power button (as you pointed out), but also by mouse movements (as I wrote about in the question itself).
By poking around in the power settings, as you advised, I was able to identify and correct the cause of my problem (the laptop did not wake up from mouse movements after a long period of being asleep).
It turned out that after three hours (the default setting) in sleep mode, the laptop would go into hibernation mode:
I disabled this option and got rid of the problem.
Now the laptop wakes up by mouse movement or pressing any key even after a long period in sleep mode.
Good luck everyone!

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you want to change the sleep mode settings, I am glad to assist you.
The only option to wake up the notebook from sleep mode is to press the power button.
However, you can change the settings to do nothing even if you close the lid.
Changing what happens when you close the notebook lid
- Choose from sleep, hibernate, shut down, and do nothing options when you close the notebook lid.
- In Windows, search for and open Power Options.
- Click Choose what closing the lid does from the list on the left side of the window.
- Click the When I close the lid menus to select a setting when using the battery and when plugged in, and then click Save changes.
