Hi @Budman24,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop won't power on, you can try these steps to troubleshoot.
Check the Power Source:
- Ensure the power adapter is plugged in securely to both the laptop and the power outlet.
- Test the power outlet with another device to ensure it’s working.
Inspect the Power Adapter and Cable:
- Verify that the power adapter and cable are not damaged.
- If you have another compatible power adapter, try using it to see if the laptop powers on.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the power adapter and any connected peripherals.
- Remove the battery (if it’s removable).
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the power adapter (and battery if it was removed) and try turning the laptop on.
Check for LED Indicators:
- Look for any LED indicators on the laptop that show charging status or power.
- If there are no lights, the issue might be with the power adapter or internal components.
Try a Different Power Source:
- Plug the power adapter into a different outlet to rule out issues with the power source.
Check the Battery:
- If the battery is removable, try starting the laptop with just the power adapter and no battery.
Inspect for Overheating:
- Ensure the laptop is not overheating. Sometimes, overheating can cause the laptop to shut down or fail to power on.
Perform a BIOS Reset:
- If the laptop’s battery is removable, with the battery and power adapter disconnected, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to perform a BIOS reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
