Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It can be frustrating when your laptop refuses to turn on, but let's troubleshoot this step by step:
Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset
- Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the AC adapter (without the battery) and try turning on the laptop.
Step 2: Check the Power Supply
- Ensure the power cord is securely connected to both the laptop and the wall outlet.
- Test the power adapter with another compatible device or use a different adapter to rule out issues.
- If the battery is removable, try powering on the laptop with just the AC adapter.
Step 3: Inspect for Overheating
- Check if the laptop feels unusually warm. Overheating can prevent it from turning on.
- Ensure the vents are clear of dust and debris. Use compressed air to clean them if necessary.
Step 4: Test External Display
- Connect the laptop to an external monitor to check if the issue is with the display.
- If the external monitor works, the problem might be with the laptop screen.
Step 5: Check for Beep Codes
- Listen for any beeping sounds when attempting to turn on the laptop.
- These beep codes can indicate specific hardware issues. Refer to HP's support documentation to interpret them.

Step 6: Run Diagnostics
- Restart the laptop and press Esc repeatedly to access the Startup Menu.
- Select F2 - System Diagnostics and run tests to check for hardware failures.
