HP ProBook 430 G5
Linux

My HP Pro Book 430 G5 is working since 7 years under Linux Mint 18.

Memory size: 16 GB,

Harddrive: 1 TB small size SSD and one 2 TB normal SSD.

I am an experienced IT expert.

Yesterday, out of nothing, the BIOS took very long (like >1 Minute) to boot the OS.

Even the Grub bootloader was extremely slow. Instead of the given 2 seconds it took about 20 seconds to start  Linux.

After booting Linux, the Notebook works as normal.

I had a look at the setup, if something had changed.

The usual short beep, when entering the Setup took about 1 Minute.

In the Setup each keystroke took up to 20 seconds to be effective, but it was possible to send 3 keystrokes in a row, which then are processed at the same time.

I thought, the BIOS might have been corrupted and installed the latest Version (01.28.00 from 4/11/24)

The installation was not possible, as recommended with a separate Memory stick.

I had to install a new SSD and install a Windows 10 on it. This was possible.

From this Windows 10 the new BIOS could be installed. The installation (9 MB) took extremely long (like several hours). But after all, the extremely slow behaviour has not changed.

It seems as if the Notebook is somehow "hybernated" during the boot process.

This might be a hardware problem, but I have no Idea, what else to do.
