I have a ProBook x360 435 G8.
It recently locked up and won’t boot. I thought it went to sleep, but it just shut down and won’t boot up.
Screen is black.
If I press the power button, the keyboard backlight turns on but nothing happens.
Sometimes, the LED on F5 and F8 light up. Sometimes just one or the other.
I have an external monitor plugged into the HDMI port, as I thought the screen could’ve died. When I try to start it with the power button, the system does nothing.
I pulled the RAM DIMMS and tried to boot it up with just 1 - it has a pair of 32GB DIMMS in it. It beeped when I reduced it to a single stick and powered back on. It beeped when I added the second one back and powered it up. So it appears something is working.
I’ve tried the power brick it came with. I’ve tried the external power in my Thunderbolt dock. It makes no difference which I use. And both the power brick and the dock work with another laptop.
I don’t have a serial # sticker on the case but the HP Support Assistant running on the machine showed it still has warranty. Where should the serial # be located on the case? I can’t find it.
