Hello,
About two years ago my HP Pavilion dv7-4065dx stopped booting up with the only signs of life being that the caps lock blinked and the other two orange LEDs stayed constantly on. I looked up the caps lock blinking pattern (it blinks four times and then it would pause and loop over and over), and the manual said it was a "graphics driver malfunction." It said the only way to fix this was to contact HP Support, so that didn't seem like a good sign to me. Anyway, two years later, the same problems persist. I really want to get some old pictures and data off of there, but I'm not so sure if it's possible since I can't interact with any sort of GUI or enter any BIOS key-code.
I would really appreciate the help,

@lemonlimed that is correct, you'll need to remove it from the laptop and connect it inside another computer or laptop, I suggest you check with a local tech for assistance on this as HP doesn't support it, and this is just me trying to help make things easier for you, if you wish to get the part repaired via HP and have the service center take care of the data on your drive, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options:
follow the below steps to get started:
1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Click on "Continue as guest".
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Click on "Show Options".
Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!
Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.

@lemonlimed Welcome to HP Forums Community!
If the caps lock is still blinking four times, you are right about it being the Graphics controller malfunctioning, and the only way forward is to get the pc repaired since you are concerned about the data on the device, you could let the repair team know about the same and they could either repair the device without you having to ship the hard drive to them, or they could provide options of a safe repair without data loss.
That said, the alternate option is to have your hard drive connected to another computer and have the data transferred before you replace the graphics card on your own:
Click here to access your service and maintenance guide to obtain the part numbers of your device, alternatively, you can obtain the universal part numbers from the HP Parts Store and order the replacement on it, or at any local online store such as eBay, Amazon, etc..
Let me know how that pans out,

Hey @Riddle_Decipher , thank you for getting back to me. I apologize for my late response.
At this point I'm more interested in having my hard drive connected to another computer and having the data transferred, since I just want to get the data off of it. How would I go about doing that? I would take apart the current computer and place the hard drive in another computer? Would the other computer also have to be an HP model?
Best,

@lemonlimed Better late than never, please go ahead and connect the drive to any other computer, it doesn't have to be HP and when you turn it on, please access the files and copy them to the new computer's drive or just keep it as it is, until you get the computer repaired.
Let me know if you need anything else.

@Riddle_Decipher My main concern is that I don't know how to connect the drive to another computer. How do I do that? I have to take the hard drive out and put it in another computer, or is there another method? I'm not really sure how to go about this.
