Hi, there's absolutely no error code that comes up when you switch it on. It's basically two things that I've noticed wrong with the laptop.
1) if the laptop has not been on the power cable, If I try to turn it on (after being shut down for a few minutes or so), all the lights (I.e. power button, network connectivity buttons and caps lock light) come on as normally, but the screen does not. It stays blank for a few minutes and then I hear a very loud whirring noise (which I'm assuming is the cooling fan). This problem is 'rectified' if the laptop is turned off and kept plugged in to the power for a few minutes.
2) the light above the charging port (which is either white (fully charged/close to fully charged), yellow (charging) or off (power not connected) has not been active for a while. When I turn on the laptop, the battery icon in the icon try tells me that the laptop is 'plugged in, not charging'. Ever since that error message popped up, the light above the charging socket has not been operating.
N.B.
This morning I noticed the light back on over the charging port. I have no idea what caused the change. Ever since the laptop started giving me issue 1), I've had it constantly plugged in so I have instant access to it and don't have to continually plug it in for a few minutes before it's able to turn on properly. When trying to determine the solution, please operate under the assumption that the light turning back on is only temporary. Also, yes, I had checked both the charging cable and power brick when the 'plugged in, not nothing's error began. I even tried another cable and got the same error.

Hi
So just an update on the battery issue. It seems that the laptop gives the 'plugged in not charging' message when the battery is on 90% or above. The moment it goes below this, the laptop charges till 100% and then goes back to the 'plugged in, not charging' message. light above charging port turns off and everything. This is the first time the laptop has done this. Is this normal ?
