Compaq Presario CQ62
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

After the usual battery replacement message immediately upon start up the machine displays "Product Information not valid". I followed the Help instructions and have the CT number but am unable to find a way to contact support since the machine is out of warranty. My options are to ask the community or use the virtual assistant (which I tried but was not given any help). Interestingly, I also get a "Windows is not genuine" message immediately following. Both of these appeared around the same time with no system changes having been made. How do I contact support??? Can I get a phone number or email address?

Hi

Is it the CMOS/RTC battery (coin cell) or the Main Battery?

I considered that, but after reading a few other posts on here from people with the same problem, all have been told that only HP support can help since an executable is required to solve the problem. Additionally, getting to the RTC Battery is going to be a pain, so I'm hoping that won't be required: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02542455

Thanks though. I appreciate the response.

Hi

Below is a Link to a 2.2 GB download....HP PC HARDWARE DIAGNOSTICS 4-IN-1 USB KEY

For HP authorized service partners and IT professionals who need to support a mixed environment of older and newer HP/Compaq PCs, the HP PC Diagnostics 4-in-1 USB Key is a diagnostic tool that supports a wide range of HP Desktop and Notebook PCs. This Key includes HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows, HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI, HP Vision Diagnostics, and files supporting recovery of a corrupted BIOS on supported systems.

Be warned it is big and complex.

Many thanks!

I had started to search elsewhere online for the download and instructions when I received the notice of your reply.

The process looks intense, but manageable.

But now I'm thinking that replacing that CMOS battery would be easier.

lol

My next thought is: WHY does this error happen in the first place when no parts have been replaced? And then to make it so difficult to get it fixed by not supplying simple contact information for an obvious manufacturer-caused issue?? There's certainly room for improvement in the HP Customer Care department on this one.

Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and attempt to fix it myself, given that HP has been of no help thus far.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
