OMEN by HP 15-ax220tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

My laptop was recently repaired by the Service  Center and replaced the system boards. So they reinstalled the whole OS. But I can no longer see the HP Omen BootLogo when starting my computer. Instead I see a Windows 10 boot logo. It's not that I hate the Windows 10 logo, I just want my Omen logo back.

Is there a way to have the Omen Logo back again when booting my computer?

Thanks,

Mac

Hello @feedermac

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.

It's not that simple - it is possible but is probably not worthy considering time and money.

The logo is part of the custom image HP has installed for you initially. Due to the hardware repairs and the OS reinstallation, you are not with the standard image of Windows 10, not a custom one. Your OS will need to be reinstalled and your UEFI/BIOS settings changed.

If you're running UEFI BIOS, the computer manufacturer logo will be displayed instead.

If you're running legacy mode (not UEFI), there's a way to change the boot logo by editing the resources in the file called bootres.dll. Note that it's not a very easy thing to do, and it will most likely require you to run Windows in "test mode" that doesn't verify digital signatures in order to allow the system to use a modified bootres.dll

On UEFI systems, I imagine editing the bootlogo will have to do more with editing the firmware binary and flashing a modified one. The difficulty and exact steps vary from one system to another.

So, if it works fine now - I'd recommend you just forget about it 🙂

Ouch, as much as I want the HP Omen logo back on my laptop, I don't have much expertise on restoring it. Well then, as long as my laptop looks fine now, I'm good. The logo is just a bonus... 🙂

Thanks,

Mac
