My hp pavilion 15-eh1070wm 2 days old getting random black screen constantly, All updates installed, Hp diagnostic test fails every time going to the black screen, At one point I unplugged the laptop to go to another room and ran the hp diagnostic test again for some strange reason the test passed no black screen came, In fact as long as I leave it unplugged no black screen but this needs to be resolved.

Hi @Vhbergmann,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A random black screen on an HP Pavilion 15-eh1070wm could be caused by several issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take.

  • Update your graphics driver: A corrupted or outdated graphics driver can cause a black screen. Go to the HP website, search for your laptop model, and download the latest graphics driver for your laptop.
  • Check your power settings: Make sure your laptop's power settings are set to "balanced" or "high performance." If your laptop is set to "power saver," it may cause your screen to go black randomly.
  • Run hardware tests: Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to test your laptop's hardware components. This tool can help you identify any hardware issues that may be causing your black screen problem.
  • Disable fast startup: Fast startup is a Windows feature that can cause issues with some laptops. To disable fast startup, go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power button does > Change settings that are currently unavailable > uncheck the box next to "Turn on fast startup."
  • Check for overheating: Overheating can cause your laptop to shut down or go to a black screen. Make sure your laptop's vents are clear of dust and debris, and consider using a laptop cooling pad to help keep your laptop cool.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
