I am stuck in a cmos boot loop and cannot get to the error code, it just says ‘system locked’. I have entered passwords repeatedly and I don’t see a ‘system disabled error’

Hi @Leckybill
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
Since the notebook is showing “System Locked” and you cannot reach the System Disabled code, I would avoid repeatedly entering passwords. The message can indicate a BIOS/CMOS security lock rather than a Windows boot problem.I would request you to please follow the steps:
Power the notebook off completely.
- Hold the power button for about 5 seconds.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and all external devices such as USB drives, docking devices, and peripherals.
Perform an HP CMOS reset.
- Reconnect the AC adapter.
- On HP consumer notebooks, HP provides a specific key-combination procedure for resetting the CMOS.
- Follow HP's official procedure rather than manually removing the CMOS battery, because the reset method varies by notebook model.
After the CMOS reset, power the notebook on and immediately press Esc repeatedly.
- If the Startup Menu appears, select F2 – System Diagnostics.
- Run System Tests > Fast Test.
- If a component fails, note the 24-digit Failure ID. Share this ID to support.
If you can access BIOS with F10, you can also try loading the BIOS defaults:
- Power off and restart.
- Press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS Setup.
- Press F9 to load BIOS Setup Defaults.
- Press F10 to save and exit.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
