as of Saturday the 13th my laptop is stuck in a repairing disc error loop. it thinks it’s going through the process all the multiple stages but never completes anything. After research there seems to be an issue with windows and Samsung. How do I get HP to solve my problem?

Hi @Traciekcali,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern about  Disk loop error, don’t worry let me help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • The exact HP laptop model and product number (usually found on the bottom of the device or under System Information in Windows).
  • Whether you’re using a Samsung SSD as your primary drive.
  • If you’ve noticed any unusual noises, overheating, or recent updates before the loop began.

Troubleshooting Steps to Try

  1. Hard Reboot & Automatic Repair
    • Hold the power button until the laptop shuts down.
    • Restart and press F11 repeatedly to enter HP Recovery Manager. See if you can access Advanced Options → Startup Repair.
  2. Check Disk from Recovery Environment
    • Boot into Advanced Options → Command Prompt.
    • Run: chkdsk
  3. This will scan and attempt to repair disk errors.
  4. System File Check
    • In the same Command Prompt, run: sfc /scannow
  • This checks for corrupted system files.
  1. Safe Mode Boot
    • From Advanced Options, try booting into Safe Mode with Networking. If successful, you can back up files and run diagnostics.
  2. HP Hardware Diagnostics
  • Press Esc at startup → F2 for diagnostics. Run the storage test to confirm if the drive itself is healthy.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
