Hi @Summers4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If you're trying to reset your Windows password from the lock screen on your HP laptop, here are the steps depending on your setup:

If You're Using a Microsoft Account (most common on Windows 11)

  1. On the lock screen, click “I forgot my password”.
  2. Follow the prompts to verify your identity (via email, phone, or authenticator app).
  3. Set a new password and log in.

You can also reset it from another device:

  • Go to Microsoft Password Reset
  • Choose “I forgot my password”, enter your email, and follow the steps.

If You're Using a Local Account (not linked to Microsoft)

If you don’t see the “I forgot my password” option:

  1. On the lock screen, enter the wrong password a few times.
  2. You may see a password hint or reset option (if you created one).
  3. If not, you’ll need to reset using a password reset disk or boot into Safe Mode with admin access.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
