Hi @surferbert1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like your HP ENVY laptop has encountered an issue that has triggered the Repair mode. This mode is designed to help diagnose and fix problems with your computer's operating system or hardware. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Restart your laptop: If you haven't already, try restarting your laptop again. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor glitches or temporary issues.
Wait for Repair Mode to Complete: If your laptop is stuck in Repair mode, give it some time to complete the repair process. It might take a while, depending on the complexity of the issue.
Advanced Startup Options:
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Turn it on again and as soon as you see the HP logo, start pressing the "F11" key repeatedly. This should take you to the Advanced Startup Options screen.
- From there, you can choose "Troubleshoot" and then "Advanced options" to access various repair and recovery tools.
System Restore:
- If you have previously set up a system restore point, you can use this feature to revert your system to a state before the issue occurred.
- In the Advanced Startup Options, select "System Restore" and follow the on-screen instructions.
Startup Repair:
- You can also try the "Startup Repair" option from the Advanced Startup Options. This can automatically fix certain startup issues.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- Sometimes hardware issues can cause startup problems. Ensure that all external devices are disconnected and try booting the laptop again.
- If you recently added new hardware, consider removing it temporarily to see if it's causing the issue.
Recovery or Reinstallation:
- As a last resort, if none of the above steps work, you might need to consider performing a system recovery or even reinstalling the operating system. This should only be done if you have proper backups of your important data.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
