HP ENVY 17-r100 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

after updating to Windows 10 1703 I totally lost the HP's UEFI functionality.

In fact, after that, I am not able to update my bios from the exe within Windows and even following this:

https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c00042629#c00042629_manual-update

In fact, if I reboot > Escape > F10 > Startup Menu > F2 System Diagnostics

I don't see any "Firmware Management or BIOS Management" option, but I only see the standard four things as: "RAM test, HDD test, Language, etc.".

If I install the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics over Uefi when the installer create the Hp Tools partition?

1-What happens when you try to run the .exe in Windows? Error messages, etc?

2-Is this the BIOS verison you are trying to use:

@RiseFall123

This may have something to do with your problem. HP has just pulled a lot of  BIOS updates due to issues with the new Intel microcode. You may be fortunate that the BIOS update didn't work.

Then, I will wait and hope that one will work.

Thank you.

Hi,

I experienced the same thing as you did too, apparently the Hardware Diagnostics UEFI Firmware screen is using a rather outdated version or something. So just now I downloaded and install https://support.hp.com/ie-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-pavilion-gaming-15-ak000-notebook/8610.... Its a June 2016 version but apparently after installing this, when I try to enter the F2 Diagnostic Screen from the boot screen, it directed me to the same screen you see in the manual update page by HP on how to update BIOS. The Firmware Management was there and everything went exactly as stated in the update.

As for choosing which BIOS you would like to install or whether you really decided to wait for the next much more stable BIOS version from HP, that's entirely up to you.

Regards.

I am quite confuse.

The driver that you installed is related to the hard disk firmware!

Also, I think that I will wait for the next BIOS update and see what happen...
