I'm having the same problem with sleep and hibernate modes with my HP Envy 15. Unlike others, though, for me this problem started with the update from 8.0 to 8.1, so I've been dealing with it for a LONG time.

I was so disappointed when the "upgrade" to Windows 10 didn't solve it.... HP really needs to fix this. It's certainly preventing me from recommending HP laptops to anyone else.

Somehow, I too have HP Envy 15, but k102tx. But i never faced any such problems in Win 8.1, even with Win 10 insider preview versions(i tested only 10162 and 10166), with the beta drivers it gave with windows update, until i upgraded to final RTM build. Thats what makes me feel either Windows 10 or Intel HD drivers are at fault. Well right now, I am trying to find out that beta driver(on Intel HD), which was provided only via windows update. If I somehow get it, i shall install it and post the result. But even if after that the problem persists, then its 200% sure, Windows 10 is at fault. If the problem perishes, then 200% its Intel driver's fault.

I have exactly the same specs, still facing issue after following your suggestions. Which laptop model do you have? Which bios version currently are yoy in? Which version Nvidia driver do you have?(Previously some Nvidia driver disabled my wifi adapter until I uninstalled it).

well, some people are suggesting to reset your BIOS settings to default, except for UEFI settings(as users installing Windows in MBR cant go back to UEFI boot until the convert the partition to GPT). They focussed on giving priority to Internal HDD for boot and Disabling Hardware Virtualization and they claim it fixed their problem. Well, right now in office, can someone give it a try??(It wont take much pain for this)

This solved my problem. Thanks

Here is my personal solution:

Install Intel HD driver from the link http://downloadmirror.intel.com/25150inprocess/eng/

Unfortunately the IntelHD driver coming from HP is customized. So, an upgrade with an Intel original driver is refused.

Solution:

- revert back to the first original Intel HD driver (included in Windows 10 ISO)
- Install the 15.40.4.64.4256 from the previous link

BEFORE FIX: browsing Internet or playng a game and concurrently forcing the suspend mode caused standby hang, resulting system unresponsive but with keyboard linghts on.

AFTER FIX: i can suspend or shutdown the PC in every moment (Actually i tried 6 supensions)

This is a temporary fix because i don't know the impact of the original Intel Driver on an HP system. We should wait that HP upgrades their custom drivers.

Enjoy yourself

Well just installed these saw someone post it a few days ago as well, will report back in a day or so with my results for my Split x2.

I tried this the other night and got the incompatible error and wouldn't allow install. But I've just tried again after rolling back the driver and it installed fine. I haven't got a lot of time to try it right now, time for bed. But I did just start a game up, close it down then put it into sleep and it went fine! I hope this is a turn around! I probably wont get back on until tomorrow afternoon but if others could give this a shot it would be interesting to see if others have success.

Installed fine but left machine on over night in the morning it wouldnt wake up.

So this isnt a fix for me.

I confirm that flash new bios will solve everthing. I tested it.

I've tried that  too, didn't help.

Its f.42 from 2015 and my nvidia driver is 353.62

Ah man I really thought I might of had a fix with that last night after rolling back the driver and installing the intel driver. I've not tested it myself yet but it did shut down ok last night.
I'm 99% certain that this is the HD Intel driver that's causing the problem.
