4 days past still having no issues going to sleep/hibernate or shutting down
It is not just OLD computers. It is ANY laptop, apparently with the chipset that is faulty. Mine is less than a year old.
BTW...we know you think your magic solution IS the solution. You can stop BOLDLY proclaiming it. We get it.

That is, upgrade a Win10 installation from the ISO (Media Creation Tool -- same/same). I wonder if that is even possible and if the ISO TOOL would freak out and say "hey dummy! you already have Windows 10!" 🙂
Not that I think the ISO and the Windows Update version are DIFFERENT sets of code.
Been there. Posted that!
I upgraded from Windows 10 ISO, not from the pop-up/upgrade offer. Still suffering the issue!
Okay. You understand that after the whirlwind of absurdity over the last two weeks why I would forget...WAIT -- isn't this the forum for how to install Windows 3.0????

Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver (sp72043.exe) - Updated Aug 11, 2015Digital Signed: Monday, August 3, 2015 10:11:43 AM
I end up having the same excat file. I am not sure why HP is keep updating the drivers page with new release dates for the same old drivers!
They don't know how to manage a page. Instead of "Last Checked", they wrote "Last Updated". When nothing was updated at all. And below, they have a "Released" thing, where one can be confused it with the release of the original and initial driver and not the updated ones.
That's really fishy way to fool customers around!
Yesterday I had some drivers under Updated titles with Aug 10, 2015, Aug 7, 2015 and so on. Today all drivers are telling that: Updated Aug 11, 2015 although most of them are still the same! Even my IDM is confused I am forcing it to re-download! 😕

I have the same laptop. I updated (of course, it does not show up in my action log -- strange) but I know I updated.
I have not had enough beer yet to try to test it. When I am unable to type I will try (so, when it fails, I won't care).

HP are confusing us with their English. For the time being, check the version with the one you already downloaded in the past (Thank God, atleast they mention the version of driver in their page). If you don't remember what version you downloaded in the past, just double click the setup, it will display all the details, but instead of clicking Next(which will install/reinstall), click Cancel.
P.S. Today I am seeing a new option, i.e. the Nvidia driver, but they are not showing the correct version as per Nvidia. Previous Nvidia version was 353.62. I don't understand how they jumped from 353.62 to 10.18.13.5350 Rev.A(their own HP package version).

Thanks a ton!! You saved my arse. I was going to download a fresh iso using media creation tool after going through some comments mentioning, that they faced issues when they updated from Windows Update but no problems when updating through media creation tool(even though i prefer to clean install ratehr than a upgrade). even though i have created my own iso using the ESD file it downloaded during Windows Update(from Insider Preview build 10166, but not from Win 8.1). You saved my metered connection Internet.

Your solution SAVED a bunch of people!!? THREE? Oh, GREAT ONE, please call HP and tell them your solution because obviously they are too stupid to realize it.
Have you ever stopped to realize a FEW things?
1. Your incessant BOLD proclamation is starting to sound like BRAGGING. (Which was, by the way, my only point).
2. Most of us, who clearly have more knowledge about this mess, do not think your supposed solution is THE solution since it has failed as many times as it has worked.
3. My name is "re4med" -- please spell it correctly next time.
