I'm not saying I don't believe what you say, you've got no reason to lie about it. But I just think if that was an official fix then someone official would of came out and said so, and I just don't want to risk making a bigger mess of things.
Edit: I know one thing though, HP now considers me an intern, so by the time this is through I should be an expert.
I was advised by microsoft to roll back to 8.1 till issue was fixed

Did they say anything else? Where were you given this advice to revert back to 8.1? Did they give any indication as to their knowledge of the issue and possible ETR?

Good to know to atleast MS seem to be aware of the issue, but they have not made any official word regarding this. And no idea, who is fixing this, Intel or MS

If it is an Intel driver then Intel will be responsible for the resolution. At that point they will release it to MS for further testing on various platforms. After that, if successful, they will release it to their users. So, expect it sometime around 2020. 🙂
If it's NOT an Intel driver but is being stepped on by MS code within Windows, they will fix and test and release sometime around 2050. Fasten your seat belts -- hang on -- because my cynical side says this will be a long-time coming.
EDIT: I am not worried about the "drop-dead" date associated with reverting back to 8.1 on my end. If my date passes, I will do a full system restore to factory condition and start over. I work exclusively out of the cloud so I will lose nothing.

That's still a lot of hassle though re4med! I could back up what I need to, there's a not a lot of it. But it's the whole process of going through and installing everything again that I can do without! It would be a full day wasted for me!
So what's our options now then?

I was on microsoft techincal chat and as soon as I describing the issue they said they are aware and working to resolve it. I asked for a time frame and said they couldnt give me one. They advised that I revert to 8.1 in the interim. No they didnt expand on what they thought the problem was. They also advised I would be able to upgrade to windows 10 at any time. It was when I had reverted that I decided to upgrade the bIOS and try win 10 again. Luckily enough that worked for me.
