I have been using the HP envy x360 Ultra 5 for the last 5 months.

For the last two months, I have been constantly facing this issue. The laptop wouldn't just turn on. It is showing that no SSD is installed.

I contacted the service center and had the SSD changed. However, the same issue persists. It's been just five months, and it's a completely new laptop and it's under warranty.

What is the point of buying an 85K laptop if this is what I have to face? Completely unexpected for such a premium product.

This is my second HP laptop, I am never gonna buy another HP product.

Hi @Sayantan_ghost,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Envy x360 Ultra 5 is having trouble detecting the SSD. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot this issue.

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and immediately press F10 to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  • Look for the Storage or Boot Options section to check if the SSD is listed.
  • If the SSD is not showing, try resetting the BIOS to default settings by selecting Restore Defaults or Load Optimized Defaults.
  • After resetting, save and exit to see if the SSD is detected upon reboot.

Check SSD Connections:

  • If you are comfortable with opening the laptop, turn it off and remove the back panel.
  • Locate the SSD and check if it is properly connected. You may need to remove and reconnect it to ensure a good connection.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Restart the laptop and press Esc repeatedly to enter the HP diagnostics menu.
  • Run a Hard Drive Test to see if there are any hardware issues with the SSD.

Update or Reinstall Drivers:

  • In some cases, an issue with the SSD drivers can cause it not to be detected.
  • Go to Device Manager (right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager).
  • Expand Disk Drives, and if your SSD is not listed or has a warning icon, try right-clicking and selecting Update Driver or Uninstall Device (then restart the laptop).

Check for SSD Health (if accessible in BIOS):

  • Some BIOS versions have an option to check the health or status of your SSD. If available, check the health report for any signs of failure.

Check for Firmware/BIOS Update:

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there is a BIOS update available for your laptop model. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve SSD detection issues.

Test the SSD in Another Device:

  • If possible, test the SSD in another computer or use an external SSD enclosure to verify if the drive itself is functional.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
