Hi @ShineMaterial ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering a software error in the SSD SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) check, it might be possible to repair the issue. However, keep in mind that SMART errors can sometimes indicate hardware problems with the drive, so it's crucial to address the issue promptly.
Here are some steps you can take:
Check for Firmware/Driver Updates: Ensure that your laptop's SSD firmware and drivers are up-to-date. Manufacturers often release updates that can address compatibility issues and improve overall performance.
Run CHKDSK: You can use the Check Disk utility to check and repair file system errors on the drive. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type the following command:
Replace "X:" with the drive letter assigned to your SSD. This command will attempt to fix any logical file system errors on the drive.
chkdsk /f X:
Use Manufacturer's Diagnostic Tool: Many SSD manufacturers provide diagnostic tools that can help diagnose and potentially fix issues with their drives. Check the official website of your SSD's manufacturer for such tools.
Create a Backup: Before attempting any repairs, it's crucial to back up your important data. You can use a bootable USB drive with a live operating system to access your files and copy them to an external drive.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
