Product: Probook 4420s
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Laptop startup fails. When I click start button, the screen blinks showing hp logo. And indicate press esc for startup menu.

Given the date of your post, I would have expected someone to respond to it before this -- but since that has not happened, I will take a shot at it ...

My laptop has always shown the "press Esc ..." line when rebooting. I simply wait and withing a few seconds, it proceeds to boot into Windows.

What happens when you wait? Does the "Esc message" just sit there, or does it boot into a utilities menu, or what else?

We can proceed when you provide the information.
