Omnibook X

I have an HP Omnibook x. When I start it, I see a normal-looking screen with the time, date, and a stock image (1st image below), but when I press a key or tap the mouse, the screen goes blurry and the only option available to me are the Power, Accessibility, and Internet options in the bottom right hand corner (2nd image below). The screen to enter my pin/password does not appear no matter what I do. I can't access anything on the device and I need to. Please help.

Hi @Memflix

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that your HP OmniBook X displays the Windows lock screen normally, but after interacting with the screen, it becomes blurred and does not display the PIN/password sign-in field. I understand how concerning this can be, especially since you are currently unable to access the system.

As a first step, please try pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete and check whether the Windows sign-in screen appears. If the issue persists, please perform a forced restart by pressing and holding the Power button for about 30 seconds until the computer turns off. Wait a few seconds, then turn it back on and check if you are able to enter your PIN/password.

If the sign-in screen still does not appear, please check whether you can access the BIOS using the following steps:

  • Turn off the laptop completely.
  • Press the Power button to turn it on.
  • Immediately start tapping the Esc key repeatedly (about once per second).
  • When the Startup Menu appears, press F10 to open BIOS Setup.
  • Check whether the BIOS screen appears and remains visible normally.
  • To exit the BIOS, press F10, select Yes to save/exit if prompted, and allow the laptop to restart.
  • Please let me know whether you are able to access the BIOS and whether the screen remains clear there.

Please revert with the results.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
