My HP Envy 17, forcibly shut down on it's own while it use and after some seconds restarted on it own, while on the HP logo before Windows, it forcibly shut down again. After the second shut down it restarted itself again but this time I could only hear the sound of the fan and hard drive, but the screen never on. Ever since that incident it the screen doesn't light up only sound of the fan and HDD. Another noticable feature, a light close USB port opposite the side the charging port, normally used to give off a white blink, but not it's just red/orange.
Help me please how can I solve this?

Hi @Drex3, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Envy 17-u153nr is experiencing a hardware failure, potentially related to the motherboard, GPU, or RAM. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to diagnose and possibly fix the issue:
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the laptop and disconnect the charger.
- Remove the battery (if it is removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect only the charger (leave the battery out for now) and try turning it on.
Check for Display Issues
- Try connecting an external monitor via HDMI to check if there is an image.
- If the external display works, the laptop screen may be faulty or disconnected.
- If there’s no display on the external monitor, proceed with further troubleshooting.
Check RAM & Reseat It
- Power off the laptop and remove the battery and charger.
- Open the RAM compartment and remove the RAM sticks.
- Clean the gold contacts with an eraser and reinsert them securely.
- Try booting the laptop again.
BIOS Recovery (Win + B Method)
- Turn off the laptop completely.
- Press and hold Win + B keys.
- While holding these keys, press and hold the power button for about 5-10 seconds, then release everything.
- If the BIOS recovery menu appears, follow the on-screen instructions.
Check Power & Motherboard Indicators
- USB Port Light (Red/Orange): This could indicate a power or motherboard issue.
- Try booting without the battery, using just the charger.
- If the power LED or caps lock blinks in a sequence, count the blinks (they indicate an error code).
Try a Different Charger
- If possible, test with another compatible HP charger to rule out power issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
