The battery on my HP model M3-U003DX was starting to die quickly so I replaced it with a new one. After I put it back together and powered it on, the screen stays black or won't turn on. I tried plugging an external monitor in with the HDMI port and it that worked, buy the screen on the lap top still won't illuminate. One thing I did notice though is that the touch screen still functions. I've taken it apart 3 times to see if I may have disconnected something to no avail. I even put the old battery back in and it still doesn't work. I wonder what I did to make it stop working?

We're not laptop techs here -- so we have no way of telling you what to check for a missing connection.
Your only recourse is to take this some place where they repair laptops and PAY them to open it and check it out for you.
IF it IS a loose or wrong connection, you will get back a working laptop.
