I have an HP laptop 17-cp0xxx laptop.  I do a lot of traveling (charity & pleasure).  I'm thinking of getting a Kensington lock for my computer while I'm on the road.  Everything I found says most laptops have a lock port since around 2000.  I just bought this one last year for school.  Where is the lock port on this computer?  I can't find anything in the user manual or on the computer that says where this type of lock would go.

Any other good suggestions would also be appreciated.

Lots of modern laptops no longer have a security slot for attaching a lock -- as does an HP X360 I have access to that is now three years old -- and I also have a Kensington lock that I can not use on that laptop.

I think I read a while back about another lock that comes with a metal plate that can be bonded to the laptop case and you then attach the lock cable to that plate.

While this sounds secure, know how thin and flimsy modern laptops are, if a thief was determine to get the laptop, they could probable just rip the plate off the case, leaving a hole -- but that probably would not matter to them.

You can try looking online for something like that, but I abandoned it for the reason mentioned.

Thanks.  I kind of suspected that, but it was still worth a try.
