Hp Pavillion 15-b135sb
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Hello everyone!!!So this is my first time writing a post on this forum page and i'd like to ask a question. So recently i got a laptop HP Pavillion 15-b135sb and it has a problem. When i boot it up it says the following error"The selected boot  image did not authenticate.Press<ENTER>to shutdown. So at first i thought it was an iso problem so i though of making a fresh install a windows 10.I actually got the laptop from a friend of mine and he said that he never did any os changing or anything and he had alawys been running on windows 8 but i thought that upgrading it immidieatly at windows 10 wouldnt be a problem.Ok so i downloaded media creation tool on my other laptop and created a bootable windows 10 64 bit usb pen drive. Before i tried to install it on the laptop i kinda played around with bios.I found out it had windows 8 pre-installed as my friend said and everything else seemed normal. So than i enabled leagacy boot fixed the boot order to boot form usb and than when everything was setup i plug the usb power on the laptop windows 10 logo appears the dots spin and than nothing happens just a big black screen.I left it like that for about 3-4 hours thinking that it might be running in background but nothing actually happened.I tried the samed process with windows 7 and windows 8.1 and windows 8.1 pro and alawys the same result. So than i did some researches about it on google and found that for most of the people(with most i mean all of them) had resolved this issue by switching legacy boot to enable and the secure boot to disable but that did not worked for me at all.I even tried hard reseting the laptop by cutting the power source and removing the battery(even though that battery is like dead) and holding the power  button for 30sec to 2 min and than running diagnostic test but nothing happened.I even tried to get into the recovery mode but it says to me something like there is no boot image selected like a big screen and if i press enter the same sentence gets repeated. So please help me i am so desperated i have looked all over the web for a solution all over the youtube but nothing. Please help me.Oh and i cant take the laptop to a hp service fix store kinda thing cause there are none in my country(btw i live in Albania that is not in my profile cause my country wasnt in the list). So please guys try to help me please id really apprushiate it.Thank you so much.

PS I am not that good english speaker so sorry for all the mistakes ive done.

Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. 🙂 Kudos to you on that score. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you try to install the operating system from the original recovery media?
  • Did you run hardware diagnostics on the computer?

For now please run complete hardware diagnostics on the computer from this link: https://support.hp.com/lt-en/document/c03467259 to eliminate hardware issues with it.

Please perform the steps in this option “Run the Extensive Test (2 hours or more)” If diagnostics pass, then please order recovery media by contacting HP phone support.

Hi @DavidSMP,

Thank you for trying to solve my problem man but i alredy solved it on my own...The problem was at my HDD.Even though i saw your answer just now i alredy tried everything that u suggested me and nothing really helpede,so i decided to get my hands into the hardware(rip my english) and i found that the actuall problem was at my hard drive.I tried to test a new hard drive on it and apperantly i was able to install the system and everything worked fine. But anyways thank you for your answer and im pretty sure that it will solve the problem for all the peoples that do not have a hardware problem.

Oh and the only think i couldnt find out is that how did my hard drive died just like that? When my friend gave me the laptop it was just fine the first days but one morning like 1 week after ive got the laptop when i tried to boot up the system i got the error we are talking about.Do u have any idea?If not thats ok,still thank you so much for helping me and be sure to check out for my other questions because ive never had a hp laptop before and ill need some help on it.
