Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I was using doing some doc work with my laptop with the charger plugged in for charging. But there's a window showing 'connected, not charging'. I thought it was a problem with my battery, so i took it out WITHOUT unplugging my charger, but then my laptop shut down. I unplugged my charger, inserted my battery back in, plugged in my charger once again, before turning on my laptop. It was starting for a few seconds before it shut down suddenly with a pop sound.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an  HP Pavilion 15-p060tx Notebook. I read that the there was a message on the battery icon saying "plugged in and not charging".  The laptop powered off after you removed the battery out even though the charger was plugged in. Now the laptop powers on for a few seconds and then shuts down with a pop sound. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
  • Power ON the laptop.

If the laptop continues to power off then let try to power on the laptop using only the charger and by using only the battery.

Also, let us perform a BIOS rollback on the laptop. Please perform the steps mentioned under "Step 1: Recover the BIOS using a key press combination" from this HP article.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Please feel free to keep me posted. All the best! 🙂
