My HP Chromebook Laptop won't let me sign in. When I use my correct password, it says that my password can't be verified. I've changed my password 3 times and it still wouldn't work and sends me on infinite please wait screen .
I really don't want to power wash my computer because I have a lot of years worth important data that I really can't get rid of. Can anyone help me?

I am sorry that happened.
It is worse that you apparently have never made backups of your data.
Chromebook might keep most of the data in Cloud Storage.
I've never had a Chromebook; I can't imagine that Cloud Storage would be wiped out using a reset / power wash. That would be bad news indeed.
What to do?

If the computer is not issuing errors but still won’t let you log in,
Consider trying a Forced Reset (power reset).
Reminders
A Forced Reset is NOT a “recovery” and does not remove your data – this reset merely forces the computer to load the Operating System from disk.
Forced Reset does not harm a healthy system nor does it “fix” problems not related to a clean start.
