@ProfARC, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Reasons for Slow Booting on HP Pavilion dv6!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Several factors could be causing your HP Pavilion dv6 to boot slowly despite the upgrades to RAM and SSD. Here are some potential issues and solutions:

Startup Programs: Too many programs could be set to start automatically, which can significantly slow down boot time.

  • Solution: Disable unnecessary startup programs using the Task Manager. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, go to the Startup tab, and disable non-essential programs.

BIOS Settings: Incorrect BIOS settings can sometimes cause boot delays.

  • Solution: Check the BIOS settings for features like Fast Boot and ensure they are correctly configured.

Drivers and Firmware: Outdated or incorrect drivers can cause boot issues.

  • Solution: Ensure all drivers, including chipset and GPU drivers, are up to date. You can find updates on the HP support website.

Operating System Issues: Corrupted system files or settings can result in slow boot times.

  • Solution: Run system diagnostics and maintenance tools. Use sfc /scannow to check for system file corruption and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth to fix component store corruption.

Background Processes: Excessive background processes can bog down the system's startup.

  • Solution: Use Task Manager to identify and end unnecessary background processes.

Previous HDD Cloning: If the SSD was cloned from a previous HDD, it may carry over some inefficiencies or misalignments.

  • Solution: Perform a clean installation of the operating system on the SSD.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
