Hello, I had this laptop for two days before it got bricked. I set up a power on password beforehand just in case it got stolen on my Uni, and I was updating all drivers and stuff. But after updating the Bios, It now asks for a power on password / administrator password which I do not have, and the old one doesn’t work! Not only that, after three tries, it asks for an usb sparekey thing but I did not set up any sparekey beforehand because I didn’t even have time to set up this computer before it gave me problems. What can I do? I literally object to paying a large sum just after literally using this pc for 2 days just so Hp can change the motherboard. This is not a password lost thing, this is a software problem. I tried windows + B, resetting the cmos, flashing the bios via usb, all the passwords I would use normally, writing the password in another keyboard layout.

@ReedLawson Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to reset the BIOS password.

You would have to contact HP for a hardware service as the motherboard may require a Bios Flash.

Any other way of unlocking the BIOS is not authorized by HP.
